Alabama’s spring game will take place April 17, the school announced Friday.
It will be the first spring game held since 2019. Last year’s event, and all of spring practice, was canceled because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last March.
This year’s game is expected to have a reduced capacity similar to games during the 2020 season.
“It’s not done yet, but we’re probably gonna end up having to ticket the event because we will have to limit capacity somewhere probably in the 20-25 percent range,” athletics director Greg Byrne said during a school-produced interview Friday. “We haven’t finalized that yet, working through those details, but we are gonna have it, which we didn’t have last year, so that’s another good step for us.”
The spring game will be the culmination of spring football practices that are expected to begin next month.
