(Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump has overtaken Democratic competitor Joe Biden to stand as the favorite to secure the 2020 U.S. Presidential election on Europe-based betting exchange Betfair, the exchange mentioned on Wednesday.
Trump’s odds, reflecting wagers matched on the peer-to-peer betting network, stood at evens, Betfair Exchange stated, versus 21-20 for Biden.
Betfair Exchange stated four bets of more than 10,000 excess weight ($13,362) had been placed on the platform through the night, of what 3 had been on Trump, while the greatest stake of the plan so even, a 50,000-pound bet, was put on the Republican nominee with the weekend.
These bets in part aided Trump to bring the lead, after being neck-and-neck with Biden earlier this week, finishing an extraordinary healing in the betting markets.
“In August, Trump had the most awful chances for re-election of each sitting President in history and defeat to Biden was looking progressively more likely,” Darren Hughes, spokesperson at Flutter Entertainment system Betfair Exchange, believed.
A Reuters/Ipsos national viewpoint poll on Wednesday showed 40 % of registered voters support Trump, compared with 47 % that said they will vote for Biden.
Biden’s lead is basically the same with the earlier three months, during what both people held conventions to nominate their prospects Trump and Biden for the presidency.
